I know that the stringwork and the piping is not perfect by far but it was my first time and it was really fun to do. Thanks, Heather for the idea! The black fondant band was covered in black sanding sugar. :) It really added a nice, glamorous touch to it. The rhinestones were from my craft closet.  Don't worry, I warned them that they weren't edible. :)

 Fun cupcakes to coordinate. :) hehe. I rolled the edges of half of them in sanding sugar.

Cakes, Cakes, Cakes!!!

So these are out of order but don't worry, I'll walk you through it. There was a plethera of cake in the past couple weeks. Some were Shelley's, some were mine.  {Shelley's were better}. Some we did together (the cupcakes). It was a lot of fun.



Here's little Pierce with his adorable smash cake. It was a little paw!!




And here's the main cake that Shelley made. It was heaven! It was a "Mounds" cake. Chocolate cake with a layer of ganache then a HUGE layer of whipped coconut filling....yeah. I had two pieces. :)





And THEEEN on top of making Pierce's cake and helping me with the 100+ cupcakes a few nights before, Shelley suprised me with a beautiful fondant layered ruffle cake!! I was so suprised and it was so beautiful. If you look closely at this picture, you will see the progression of what happened. Steven's face is blurred in the background because he has just smashed my face into the hard fondant and is running away like the coward that he is. (j/k Steve, I love you).  Can you see it??

Hugging my beautiful, generous, selfless sister for giving me a great birthday. She also got me a BEAUTIFUL set of make-up brushes that I desprately needed on top of making a labor-intensive beautiful cake. So I hugged her extra hard.





One more shot because it's so beautiful. It couldn't have been more perfect for me. Pink, grey and Ruffles. :) It was SOOO Yummy too!! Chocolate cake with chocolate moose and a fresh rassberry filling... She knows me so well. What a great sister!

 


It's okay, we made up. :) BTW, I'm wearing my new beautiful sweater (with cute little toggles) that my wonderful sisters Crystal & Melissa got for me! It was a fantastic birthday. :)




We celebrated Dad's birthday on Thanksgiving! Melissa brought a super yummy chocolate cake for him. :)





This is a random shot of Trevor's b-day cake that I made just before we left for Cali. He reeeeally wanted a toy on his cake which is completely against my cake religion but when he flashes that cute dimple, I can't resist giving in. We went to the store and this is what he picked out...a garbage truck... So this is the cake that was born from the garbage truck inspiration.







These are some of the cupcakes that I was commisioned to make for Jacob's family Thanksgiving dinner/reunion. Shelley so graciously let me use her kitchen and helped me pump out 100+ cupcakes.
I wanted them to be simple & beautiful but mostly delicious!
These were my favorite. A subtle coconut cake with a super light & fluffy coconut buttercream with toasted coconut as the garnish. Shelley had me thin out the buttercream more than usual and it was genius! It turned out so pretty!

 



Chocolate fudge cake with a sweet peppermint buttercream dusted with cocoa powder {Shelley's idea} and garnished with a peppermint stick. They were reminicent of a cup of hot cocoa with a peppermint stick in it. :) The kids went NUTS over these!





{Sigh} My other favorite. Chocolate fudge cake with a whipped milk chocolate/orange ganache....so heavenly. I made these candied orange peels {that really did taste like candy} as a garnish so that people wouldn't be suprised at the orange flavor when they bit inot the chocolate. :) I love this holiday flavor combo.
