This was for a birthday/graduation for a new dentist in our ward. We loved the way it turned out. We used a garlic press for the tassel and real wire for the braces with fondant brackets. We used chocolate fondant under the teeth. It was heavier than normal fondant so it made the cake slouch a little. It is a three layer 4 inch personal cake.

Cupcake...Cake

My friend had me replicate this birthday decoration into a cake and cupcakes. It was actually way fun. I bought the cupcake cake pan from Wilton and it's pretty cool. I was even going to put dark purple fondant swirls on the buttercream but when I went to look for the dark purple fondant that I had made, I only found blue. The purple turned blue on the Fondex! Weird. I LOVE the candle on top. I actually make giant cupcakes for my friends b-day's now because it's so easy. I always make a cute candle topper. They are my new favorite thing right now.

Don't Forget this One!
Shelley made this cake for my Birthday! Isn't it sooo cool! It looked and tasted just like the real thing! She knows me well (and my obsession with hostess cupcakes). I loved it! Thank you Shelley!

Piping gone bad...
Here is a cake I made for a good friend of mine who is turning 30. A bunch of us girls are taking her to Olive Garden for dinner tonight. I used the SM B/C on it and wanted to try my hand at piping (which still needs a LOT of work!). I think I have a solution for my horrible piping...Use a tiny piping bag so that I can have more control. And I have to take it easy with pressing in the pattern presses...it was late and I wasn't being paid for it so I didn't correct every little mistake... I was excited to try the bow too...I've never done one before. This is a white rasberry swirl cake with SM B/C filling...it's so light that it actually makes a great filling.

My First Wedding!

I did our cousin Rob's cake for his open house in Spanish Fork this past week. I'm so glad that it was so casual. I probably would have been 5 x's as nervous if it wasn't. The only direction that I was given was that the colors were royal blue and sage and it was to be a cupcake tower so here is the result.Thank goodness that Ashley was visiting me and was here to help me! I don't think I could have done it without her help! We had to make 100 flowers to go on top of the cupcakes. Since there were two colors in each flower, that meant that we had to cut out 200 flowers and then assemble them! We also had to cut out 200 leaves. Ashley did just about did all the flowers and leaves by herself. The top cake was fun to do the piping on. I've been wanting to try this design for a long time. I was happy with it...until during transport, the buttercream started melting and creating air pockets in the cake. We had to poke a hole on the top and let the air out, then cover it back up with a fondant flower. It also started to melt the dam for the filling so that is why you will notice it being a bit lumpy in the middle. The picture makes it look worse than it is though.

Giant Cupcake
I showed a lot of you my giant cupcake already... but I wanted to post it again since...well, I just don't make a whole lotta cakes. Ha! Maybe now after I see all these ideas I can do a little more ;) Some of you asked about the pan I bought for it. It's Wilton and I picked it up at a local cake shop.
I'm loving the sugar-themed playlist too... Great idea, Heather. I came across a few more songs you could add if you wanted:
1) 'Sugar, Sugar' by the Archivers
2) 'Sugar' by Tonic
3) 'Brown Sugar' by the Rolling Stones
4) 'Sugar' by Louis Armstrong
5) 'Sugar Dumpling' by Sam Cooke
6) 'Sugar' by Billie Holiday
7) 'Sugar' by the Spindoctors
8) 'Sugar Town' by Nancy Sinatra
Sugar really starts to look like a weird word after you write it 10 times, man...
